Happy Tuesday! Well . . . I have just loved creating and showing you the cute furry little bunnies from this release but I started coloring the Helga Frost image from Kenny K a week ago and i decided to use some of the W markers in my copic collection. Now, I hadn't had a lot of experience with this tone grey, however, I take Angie's (Scrapgirl) card class every month and she showed us that it's nothing to fear! Thanks Angie! Now, I have decided that I LOVE coloring like this! Maybe even a little more than multi color. This project was so much fun that you'll probably be seeing the monotone projects from me more and more often.

I also used the holographic embossing powder that I picked up and used in another one of my card making classes at Archivers. This stuff is fabulous! If you havn't tried it yet, I would highly recommend you give it a shot - see some of the close up images further in the post. This is one of my favorite type of cards, the vellum front and the older steampunkie style with some very feminine touches. I've distressed the flowers with shimmer and then crackle paint and made my own hanging beaded jewel for the pick! I found the dangle at Michaels crafts on sale and bought loads for further use! lol One other new item I used on the grunge board is a fabulous emboss powder that comes out thick and glittery which was perfect for this mono tone project and gave it a really feminine feel! After all, this is all about the empowerment of the WOMAN!

This project had a mind of it's own and after a week of getting nothing but the images done, last night till (well ok, this morning) 4am, it ended like this . . . I hope you enjoy it and it inspires you to try some of the new products in it.

I have been drawing and doodling my whole life...as far back as I can remember! Over the last year and a half, I have been selling it on Etsy. I was approached to draw stamps for Sugar Nellie, a stamp company based in Scotland. After designing only rubber for a year, I decided to branch out a bit into the digital world:). As an artist, I appreciate the versatility of digi's for the stamper. I also like releasing stamps that are a little more obscure or unique. Monsters, nerds with big glasses...even a mermaid:). Those ones are really fun for me to draw! After opening up my digi shop in the beginning of September, I've been busy filling orders:). Today, this is my project with another adorable Bunny stamp from Crissy Armstrong! I used another one of my new Spellbinder dies with my new Grand Calibur. I used Rock Candy Crackle on the corner dies, the leaves. The heart tag is tucked behind this bunny in the right corner and I embossed it, then distressed the words so they would pop! I also added one of my new crochet flowers I found at the antique shop in town to add that gentle soft touch that is in the DP to bring the feel to the front of the card too! I dotted the pearl beads liquid all around to give a shiny feel to the card and to resemble pollen this process was learned from Sonja here. You really have to get close to this card to see all the details including the embossing on the DP panels in back and the heart tag too! I hope you enjoy it!

I love this time of year, don't you? You are just going to fall in love with the new images available in the Teddy Bo & Co store today! I knew I had to gather some interesting items and put together a quick card with this pre colored cutie today as I have been indisposed for a few days while the doctors try to get me back to normal. If there is a normal! hehe.

Teddy Bea and Easter Pink!

I was in a very pink mood this week! When I saw this new Bea graphic, I couldn't wait to color this up and make a terrific Easter gift for the flower shop.

I've also decided to make a special little flower to add to this project so I added the tulle under it and then squeezed in some sparkly pink garland inside the tulle.

I almost forgot, I couldn't resist playing with my new Grand Calibur and die cuts that I got for a GREAT discount at Joann Fabrics. The machine and dies are almost 1/2 off their regular price and I just couldn't resist! Boy did it ever make it very simple to make this (perfectly fitting) scalloped easel card. I used to hand cut them and TRY to get them right!

I didn't get to make a project this time other than the one for a submission to a magazine call but I did get to play a little with my new Grand Calibur machine from Spellbinders, yep new for me! This is another one of the projects that was completed for the Whimsy Stamps Magazine in December and it is with an image by the talented Katherine! There is such a wide variety of images available at Whimsy between Kenny K's gorgeous girls and punky teens, to Sylvia Zets fabulous Fairies, Meljens spotty dotty fun animals and so much more! In March, we will even be enjoying the beautiful creations of Elizabeth Bell!

Shape EZ Take Out Box and Magnolia flower + tag

I'm so glad to be able to share with you a terrific new Shape EZ by TLC cut file product line at Whimsy Stamps Store. There is a terrific "Take Out Box" cut file that will allow you to create a simple and adorable gift box like the one below. I've coupled the box with two other cut files also available that is the "Magnolia flower" and the Pedestal Tag #1". You can use a cutting machine with the SVG file, or you can put your favorite DP into your printer and cut this out yourself from the 300dpi JPEG, PNG or PDF file that comes along with the cut file.

What's different about this box? Not only do you get the box, but there is a base and DP layer you can cut, if you like, that will automatically fit perfectly inside each side and even the lid! Also, there is a window in the shape of a Magnolia flower that you can choose to add or delete and a frame to encompass the window. So the options are limitless and the choice is up to you! Simple or as complicated as you like every time as often as you like!

Oh, I've done it again! Yep! I've learned that pencil and Gamsol really blends outward from the image so well, I may have to permanently switch from copics at least for this purpose! Who says you have to only use one medium anyway! I'm loving the greys in pencil especially and the shading! Below I'll show you what I've done for the watery looking bubbles!

After the dimension liquid was added to each of the circles made with DP, I sprinkled glitter into the gel before it dries! This gives the illusion of watery bubbles! And I cracked out the old tiny alpha stamps for this project too! Anyone remember these?

I've used the colored pencils again instead of the copics and I've decided that I simply love the grey's in pencil and that the shading around graphic images is much simpler in pencil than copics in my impression! Little circles outward gives the look of real shade. I'm still learning, and I haven't replaced my copics (especially skin tones) but on animals, I'm getting the hang of it I think? Hope you enjoy it!

I know that this entire week has just been overloaded with some older projects, but I think that a product like the ones you can make with the Shape EZ cut files are worth the time. This wonderful tree shaped card is super simple and I've chosen to add the swirl flower and bow pin from the shape EZ line because I just love the little details! This card is super simple with base only or really refined when you add the dp that is perfectly sized to fit inside the base!

Whimsy ice skating ornament

Today I'm going to share a winter project that I made with one of my favorite Whimsy stamps. The project was in the Whimsy Magazine issue 5 and I wanted to make sure I shared it here for any of you that haven't had an opportunity to visit the free magazine as of yet. I was asked by a patron of a craft sale to make 5 of these in several different colors, unfortunately I neglected to take photos of them all. I decoupaged this stamp but I can't wait to get my new Olba glue that is now available at the Whimsy Stamps Store, so I'm going to give it a try now that it is in the US! Check out my friend Mariska's blog here for more information on the glue as I've never used it myself but she loves it and her creations are out of this world beautiful!

The sketch we used is by Iris w/ Whimsy

I hand altered the ribbon with Copic Sketch markers to match the DP perfectly, the Colorless Blender  was also used to blend in the colors

I altered a Bath & Body gift Bag today and followed the talented Iris's sketch in a small version to the best of my ability. I adore these little animal stamps from Sylvia Zet Wee collection at Whimsy and used the Copics only for the ribbon. Yes, once again, as with the love birds earlier this week, I colored with my pencils and mineral spirits then added some distress ink. I've found some lovely watercolor paper at Hobby Lobby that makes this technique a dream to do. I really struggled with the other types of paper I was using but it looks as though my copics may take a break for a while so I can practice with my new pencils! *smiles* I hope you enjoy the project with all the lush Bo Bunny papers and beautifully matched embellishments you can find at the One Crazy Stamper Store!

I made a gift bag for my dear Sister In Law today with these two lovely Sylvia Zet Love Birds and I'm very pleased with the results! The entire project took about one hour from cut to finish! I even used my dusty colored pencils from the Dick Blick shopping spree instead of Copics and "TRIED" to keep the coloring light and breezy! Not usually an easy thing for me but with this open and simple design, it was a breeze! Fairy Tale with Bea Book Card

It's time to share with all of you the best new little graphic that just opens up so many possibilities! The lovely and talented Mamma Bear Gayle has designed a graphic that has several little ditties to use all in one set! I distress some corrugated cardboard (shutter size) with crackle paint and distressed some grunge board too to add the hinges with brads to create the look of the open window. I will NEVER do this much distressing on a project again without one of those Distrez machines! And I will always have the utmost respect for women that design this genre of project EVERY time! lol

Take a Bodacious Spin? Whimsy Release Day 3

Happy Saturday!

I'm not usually the one to talk a great deal about the happenings in my world, but I just had to share this to get it off my mind. I've really learned a lesson!

I used little cut outs from the collection of DP, sewed them up and made them tags for background embell?

Have you ever wondered, after spending 3 or 4 hours on a card, what in the world is this thing supposed to be? Oh my gosh! Yesterday I spent about 4 hours on a card with one of those images that can be layered, you know . . cute little bear inside a cute little window with an adorable blue bird and some of what you "think" is just going to be adorable papers and when you try to make it all into something, you're entirely frustrated!

You start to breath heavy, your blood pressure rises, you step away for a cup of joe and when you get back, you discover it must be the ugly papers that are throwing you off! Now I say ugly only out of frustration because I am a bright red and deep rich color loving crafter and when I try to make something shabby chic or rustic or light and pastel, it throws my insides right OUTSIDE! So I thought to myself . . . self, do something to make the papers prettier! So I distress them with that little Tim Holtz tool. Sounds simple right? Two hours later, with the onset of carpel tunnel syndrome, I get that done and decide that they would look even better if they were distressed with the ink too! Not a bad thought until it was an hour later!

Needless to say, I will never under appreciate all of the Designers for the Tea Room or anyone else that makes one of these types of cards again! Lesson learned: Be careful when choosing papers to start with, stick with what you love, and by the Distrez machine! lol (By the way, the card is still not done . . . stay tuned for this coming Tuesday's post!) You'll see what I mean *smiles*

Sorry this is such a long post but I had to get that out. Anyway, today's card was only about 3 hours and includes a great little gift from my friend Colette **here**. The image was so clearly simple to color and make gorgeous, the red and white and black is gorgeous (maybe even my new favorite color combo) and the entire card was so much fun to make! I think it's spoken for too! lol

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy our new release! So . . on to my little Valentine sweets box. I took some inspiration from the WOJ DT Alice here. I always give credit if I make something similar to what I create, however, I adjusted this with my own size and created a 1" base and the edges are accordion to hold my goodies in and the box is tethered together with a ribbon in the back too! Well it's similar and I was very inspired! Thanks Alice. *smiles* I also pin embossed the umbrella,bow,cheeks and belly for a 3D effect.

Lovely Is in the Air at Top Tip Tuesday

Hi ladies! I'm getting back into a groove finally! After the Holiday, It took me a week or so to remember that my family needs dinner around 6:00! *oops* lol Anyway, today I followed a groovy sketch provided and added an adorable Karen's doodle image to make both the DP and the basic image! I had some (basically white) paper that has red and blue flower petals in it! Yep! all natural paper, anyway, I decided to skatter the digital image into different sizes and different angels, add them into my software and printed them o the paper. All I did then is use some nestabilities ovals and circles, made some of my own flowers from more scrap all natural paper and tada! Cute huh?

Saturated Canary Design Team Call!

I got to use my new Copic Air Brush system Hubby got me for Christmas on the clouds and the template I used is from my buddy Bev Rochesters sight! Check it out here!

So, I started blogging just over a year ago and I set my goals. One being qualified to get on "A(ny)" design team to help inspire and to further my creative skills. For all of you ladies looking for this, just hold tight to your designs, get inspiration with challenges and have faith and courage and keep applying! It will happen! I knew I also wanted to design for a online store, become an artist, Increase my craft sales to juried only, get published, increase my Vendor Stores(they love the bears, and the Canary girls) and a copic certificate. Well 5 out of 7 isn't bad. Now for 2012 goals, I want to get to the CHA with the Shape EZ line, Copic Certificate (again), get into juried craft sales, teach more than one coloring class and use/recycle all of my scrap paper in my designs! (That's the biggest one for sure)

Since then, and within one fast paced year, I inspired and gained loads of very special and super talented new friends on seven different teams. The terms for several of them have expired and this has opened an opportunity to carefully search out and find specific artists to design for that will inspire my creativity.

Now, with all my (little) extra design time, I am looking to design for graphics that will look fabulous with my favorite bright RED and deep ORANGEs. Also allow me to add as many hand made items as possible. This is the reason for my post today! The Saturated Canary graphic team created by the fabulous Krista Smith is having a 3 month Guest Design Team Call. These girls look stunning with my colors of choice, and they are looking for only 3 girls this term and then will revolve the platter and do it all again. This is what they want you all to know:

On another note, we are ready to add to the Dt team!! The girls and I are hosting a Guest Dt call starting today! We are looking for three girls for a period of three months. Then it will open back up again for new friends to join in!:)

Right, so finally on to my super find at Hobby Lobby! Don't you just adore when you find that little gem that for someone else would be trash, but you can't resist the temptation to make it into something beautiful again? Me either! If I recall, there's something about garbage and treasure there? HMM? Anyway, I found this wall plaque all scratched up and marked down from almost $12 to $2 at Hobby Lobby the other day and bought it not having any idea when or for what I was going to us it. I was initially going to make a pretty little flower filled ditty for this Birthday Bash, however, one of the other ~~toilet scrubbers~~ DT members over in the tower made a gorgeous hand made rolled flower filled heart and got hers done first so . . . not having tons of time left, I went reaching into my "will use sometime somehow" bag and pulled it out! I'm very happy with it and for my craft sale in February, it will be perfect. Please enjoy this and the rest of the DT work from the Teddy Bo Team and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TEDDY!
