Watermark ink with Stencil on Kraft

Happy Sunday crafty friends!  Today I've used my stencil design you can find exclusive in The Hedgehog Hollow October subscription box!  The box comes with over $100.00 worth of product including three stamp sets, stencil, the Double Dial Die, papers, brads and more!  It's while supplies last and limited so don't wait, they're going fast!

Today I wanted to simplify the Holiday card making process for the beginner card designer.  With a piece of Kraft card stock and the reindeer portion of the stencil, I dabbed watermark ink into the reindeer form and was sure to get into every nick and cranny!

I did have to mask off the reindeer from the other portions of the stencil so the ink wouldn't leak into snowflakes or other parts.  Then I drew a collar in gold and black ink and used a berry colored alcohol ink and designed three little berries at the back of the collar.  I used a white gel pen for the four dots on each reindeer back and tied some twine around the kraft paper with a bow.

A strip of vellum was cut, a strip of black card stock was stamped and embossed with white and adhered to the bottom for the sentiment section.

All that remained was to pop up the front Kraft panel and use the watermark ink again onto red paper from in the box and fussy cut another Reindeer to pop up onto the empty part of the banner strip.  Voila!  Done!  It's a 10 minute card!

 Until Next Time, Stay Crafty!

Lavinia Clean n Simple

Happy Friday friends!  I realize I just posted a project with some of the Lavinia Stamps I've added to my collection just the other day, but I just had to see if they fit into the CAS genre too!

This is Fox 1 Kernel!  Isn't he regal looking?  As I've been practicing with my Gelli Plate in the past, today's project was no different!  I winded up with a beautiful Teal and purple backdrop that I cut with a circle die.

Normally, I would stamp directly into the background with the Versa Clair Nocturn color of ink, however, my first stamping of Kernel didn't leave the little spotty areas on his chest and tail!  It was all filled in!  So, I stamped him out again and glued the image down over the other image and it actually looks more realistic because of all the cut lines in the hairs in his tail.

I want to explain something else about my work.  I am now an independent designer!  I no longer am required to color or design with images or products that someone needs me to design with!  I color what I want to color and It is such a liberating feeling!  Many of my friends have commented on my recent posts that they see more color, more style and more joy in my work!  It's because as a liberated artist, we feel more joy and comfort in what we design!  I hope everyone understands why I don't link to stores where I've shopped and why I don't go into great detail about how the project was made?  Perhaps in the future I will design for someone else, perhaps not!  lol  Time will tell, but for right now, I'm a happy crafter enjoying the freedom!

The inside of the card too!   My posts are more about combining the joy of crafting, the intrigue of graphic designing the pictures and living life with no restrictions or limitations.

If you are looking to find where you too can find anything you see me use, please don't hesitate to ask.  Until next time Friends!  Stay Crafty!  Find Joy!

CAN YOUR FAIRIES FLY TOO?

It's a Fairy Fantasy Land!

Shhh!  Be very quiet and you will see them too!  Just before dusk, the Lavinia Stamp Fairies spread the fairy dust light from one pod to the next.  They share the love and warmth with each little fairy friend!

Video available at the end!

The magic of the Double Dial Die in action!

I've created another project with my Double Dial Die today.  This time the Lavinia Stamps Fairies are sharing the light.   Tonight the Dragonfly Keeper is spreading the light dust to Oona's pod.  Her pod is rising up to receive the light while it leaps over to her.

        Oona                            Dragonfly Keeper

Aren't they delightful??

I've used my Gelli Plate to create the background with Color Box ink and Brusho's.  I stamped some of the pods, foliage, words and fairies in Versa Clair Nocturn and Shady Lane ink and used a template of the slots from the Double Dial Die and hand cut the slots into the face of the card built on one of my previous die sets.  I fussy cut some of the pods and the fairies and assembled the kinetic portion of the card.

Just turn the dial and she FLIES!

Perfect for EVERY OCCASION!!!

Interactive fun!

Make your fairies come to life!

Here is the card in live action!  I hope you've enjoyed the project today!  I stepped outside my comfort zone again with the Lavinia Stamps Silhouette collection and love the result!  I hope you too get a chance to work with them as they are intricate and beautiful!  If you want to get the Double Dial Die and try the kinetics portion of the project, hurry over to the Hedgehog Hollow and get the October 2019 subscription box while supplies last!  They're going fast and once their gone, their gone!  The die is exclusive and can't be bought anywhere else!  Good luck and Happy Crafting!

Hugs until next time,

Alpaca Pals "Ooh La La" Puppy

Hello Crafty Friends!  My friend Kassi, a few weeks ago, colored and posted an adorable illustration of a Zebra that I simply fell in LOVE with!  I asked her who the illustrator was and I went shopping!

The illustrations by Tracey Hey are sketch like instead of single line drawings.  This makes them so gentle looking and sweet.  Sincerely, these images are just the most adorable I've seen in such a long time!  This little pup is called "Ooh La La" .

To create this project, I taped off a ribbon like section across the center of the card horizontally with some purple tape and used Distress Oxide inks blending from the Hickory Smoke to the Festive Berries to the Cracked Pistachio.  Then I used some water to create the droplet effect.

All that was added after this step was some glitter pen and a tiny bit of watercolor ink on the bow tie, eyes and boots!  That makes this a super simple project that I just adore!  Not to mention, I had a blast designing and creating it!  My mojo is coming back!

Happier every time I get to create!
  Until Next Time Friends,

Lavinia Deeper than the Ocean with Sebastian

The Sentiments are by Lavinia the Deeper Than The Ocean and a portion of Silver Lining Stamp.  I have found a U.S. based store called Laviniaworld.  They have good prices and quick shipping so if your looking for this sort of stamp and are in the U.S. you could save with them.

Let's talk about the dies I used with this project and that fantastic embossing folder with the silver paper.   I used a die (not currently available) that I designed called Scalloped Rectangle die for the artwork. The turquois paper with the stitching is from the PinkFresh.  It's called the Diagonal Stitched Rectangles die set.  The embossing folder is from Echo Park called The Wave

Just look at that glimmer close up!  It's the Brusho Sprinklet Iridescent powder!  Glorious twinkle!

I've wanted to make a colorful piece of artwork with this stamp since it came out.  He's called Sebastian the Seahorse. I adore the quality and the intricate artwork of these beautiful stamps!  This is the first of a three piece set that will go into my collection at the Crafted: Modern Handmade Store in town.

Here's the inside of the project!  The bubbles are from Lavinia too!
I used Colorbox inks with Brusho's on the Gel plate to begin the background.  The VersaFine Clair Ink Nocturn for the image.  There were a few additional stamps used to create some depth and texture in the underground background called Spanish Moss.  The stamp with a little sea horse called Sea Creatures was also used with a second generation stamping off to the right of Sebastian.  Even though it was cut into, in real life it only adds to the scene!

I used Distress Ink and a plastic cut circle to create the look of a moon shadow just around the Sebastian face image.  Then I used my white gel pen to add some dots to Sebastian for texture and done!

Stay Crafty!  Until Next Time!
