Turtle Love

Happy crafting this cold and icy Monday!  I was able to manage getting out some of my multi-media supplies for this project!  The card started out simple and quickly grew into a delightful mixture of color and texture, to mix with this beautiful little Fairy!

She is Turtle Love from the newest collection of "From the Hollow" fairies!  She's sweet, dimmply and full of love for her strong and wise turtle friend!

I started with a spray or two of my new irresistible texture sprays, dabbed on some copper stain, sponged on some Airondac mixed inks.  Then with one of my favorite little tricks, I used some detail embossing powder and stamped on the word LOVE from the fabulous Love collection up and down and all around the page.   A bit of lace and ribbons and some lovely little petals and her and her best friend have happily found their new place!

If you're up for a go at some mixed media but want to start small, this is the way to go! Enjoy crafting!

Just Because You're My Ice Princess

Happy Sunday!  Today I'm so excited to share a special project all about being a princess in the winter!  This is the Ice Princess from the Cutie Pie stamp collection at the Little Darlings Rubber Stamps Store.  Isn't she majestic?  With that gorgeous robe and gown, not to mention all that flowing but icy looking hair?  I've colored her with my new Derwent Inktense Pencils (Loving these pencils) and the hair is with Distress Ink Pens.  Her crown, the fur on her coat and all of those lovely feathers in her ball gown are laced with my silver glitter pen!  Even her eye lids are coated with glitter!

This project is "Just Because" it's going to be winter very soon and I wanted to use some of the stock from my newest purchase at Hobby Lobby.  I found some terrific glitter paper that is corrugated so it's easier to cut through with dies!  It worked perfectly!  Even the adorable and super intricate flower vine die from the Darling Square set and the Darling View die was no problem!

With the winter wonderland blue color and some distress Ink creating a vintage look and adding to it with the icy look of the silver, this one turned out exactly like I had hoped!

Arabian Beauty!

Happy Wednesday friends!  OMGoodness, did you see that there is a NEW Candi Bean release coming out this weekend?  There is a FB party to kick off the event you can join here if you too love these cute little images!

Now that I've announced the newest arrival to Little Darlings Rubber Stamps, I'm going to move right onto today's project!  This sexy and Arabian beauty "Genie" is one of the stamps I've been dying to ink up and color for almost a year now!  She may be one of the first Saturated Canary rubber stamps from Little Darlings Rubber Stamps but she's a goody!

I grabbed the "All in One" die set Darling Square Set to create today's project, so I went right into cutting the design paper from the largest die in the set.  It's full of flowers and rectangular holes that create a lovely texture all the way around your project to perfectly frame you in.

Secondly, I grabbed some of the other littler parts of this great coordinated "All in One" set.  The vine die, the sentiment frame and of course the two different sized flower dies were perfect to enhance the look of the frame!  Compiling large and small flower cuts with some WOC pearl brads made embellishing simple.  I popped some pearls on the flowers in the vine and added them to the right side of the image climbing upward to offset all the lovelies on the bottom of the card!  This set has everything you need!

So, here she is!  What do you think?

Summers ending and I'm back!

I've been neglectful of my blog this summer but I have to say, it was completely worth it!  To spend some serious quality time with my family in Florida was just what the doctor ordered!  But, I'm back now and I have a fully leveled home too.  I've made wee late night efforts to catch up on the email mania that occurred in just 13 very short days too but if I've missed one, trust that I'll get there shortly!  As school starts back up soon, I'm sure things will get back to their usual but I hope you all have had a blessed and relaxing summer as well!

Bare with me while I share a bit of the trip!

Here's the true reason for my visit to the most humid state on the continent!  Mom! At the largest gathering of the elderly I've ever seen~  Bingo night!  We won though and had the best time!

Father, Brother, Son, and the nephew at Ci Ci's for dinner, that's 3 generations of Houghton boy's there!  Little nephew is adoring the toy Aunt Tammy got him! (Took it everywhere!)

Ok! So I had to add this one because this is the gift I chose for my hubby from the Universal Studios Island.  It is for our 24th Wedding Anniversary which was on the 13th!  Yes, I was there in Florida and he was home in Michigan getting our house leveled!  This should make up for the little error in dates right?  lol  Sorry though, six weeks minimum for delivery cause that's not getting through the airport!

If you haven't visited the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry yet, you've got to see this place!  Truly a large accomplishment and tribute to the Disney tradition!

I'm not sure why anyone would voluntarily choose to live in Florida year round? I have been made aware of the cooler temps around the ocean though so maybe I'll have to give that a go next time! lol

The pool really helped!  That's my boy!
Couldn't resist showing all of this, loved the rafted river all the way through the park, you get on or off anywhere and there's no walking necessary!  There were so many other wonderful attractions we visited too.  The Mosi hands on museum with the Mummy's around the world exhibit, the Hard Rock Cafe' Casino in Tampa, the Adventure Island day and more!  Again, I hope you've all enjoyed your summer's as well, and are looking forward to another wonderful crafting year!

On to the card for today!  This is one of the make and take cards from Angie Hunts class that was a more recent design.  She has such an eye for colors and design that I'm always so pleased with what I get!  As usual, I am only responsible for the actual coloring here as the entire design was Angie's but I love sharing them just the same.  In case you havn't heard, the Little Darlings CHA booth won the award for the best new comer to CHA and is distributing the Saturated Canary rubber releases too!  Love those bright eyed lovelies!  You can fin the Face book page here as well!

Lastly, On August 22, the Whimsy Stamps August Release begins so be sure to stop back by for some more candy and all of the new stamps, papers, Shape EZ templates and Shapeology dies too!

Happy Tuesday to YA!

INSPIRATIONAL THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Life Quotes - Don’t forget to live!
Life is for living... Giving it all you have.
Sometimes we need to remember that life isn’t a dress rehearsal.
We’re in the thick of it and it’s all moving fast.
It’s too easy to miss the special things that are occurring around us.
As a Louis Armstrong life quote says, "I see trees of green, red roses too - What a wonderful world" we also can benefit greatly from taking time out to smell the roses.

News times 2!

My Whimsy Shapeology Die Candy here till 7-16

*********************
Yowsers It's Hot!  A mere 98 degrees today!  We hit 102 on the 4th so I guess I should be glad!  lol  On a more creative topic, I have hit 450 followers!  I'm so pleased to be reaching so many lovely people and hope to continue to reach even more of you!   We all like a treat and after the 16th of July when I draw a winner for the above candy, I will have a Saturated Canary surprise for you to thank all of you for helping to spread the love of our craft and the shaped EZ templates too!

*************************************

Time to tell you all, finally!  I was chosen as a featured artists at the Scrapbook News and Review magazine!   Published at the first of July!  I couldn't be more blessed and excited to share my Shape EZ template work in this arena!  Yep, yours truly!  Pinch!

If you subscribe, My article is titled "Outside the box" (box meaning the square card).  The Shape EZ cut templates available exclusively at the Whimsy Stamps Store were profoundly showcased and a tutorial on my altering of my sons daily planner pages into the Kenny K bookmark I recently created.  There are some fabulous tutorials from other featured artists too like Suzanne Dean's wonderful copic coloring.  Thank you for the opportunity SNR!

Big news number 2!

My colleague and friend Angie Hunt, owner of the Little Darlings Rubber Stamps is going to give away 3 of the new Saturated Canary rubber images when her new Facebook page has collected 500 followers and she's almost there!  If you stop in and like the page, you're in the draw!  Don't you just love the SC images by Krista Smith?  The rubber is going to be available in the U.S. for the first time through the Little Darlings store after the CHA in July!  Can't wait to see the rubber only images!    So get over there and join in on the fun!  Good luck all!

*********************************

I'm going to share another of my "practice" cards today from the card class I take monthly with Angie Hunt or Scrapgirl as you may know her.  Hi Angie!   The image is "Fresh Picked Flowers" from the Little Darlings store.  My teacher and friend Angie was showing us how to create a plump looking cheek and shallow around the eyes for depth.  Also, the pebble look on the pathway and shading of stamped clouds.  Both were completely new to me and just my opinion, the cheek is a little tricky but really looks lovely when it's right.  For the information on the card, I'm going to link you to Angie's card here.   Thanks Angie, really beautiful design again!

I want to clarify that this card design, paper choices, die cuts, flowers and even the marker color choices are supplied completely by Angie for the cost of the class and the only portion of this creation that I will ever take credit for is the coloring of these projects.  So I've learned the technique but I admit, I really have to practice before I master it! tehe

The pathway/cloud stamp is a separate image

Yep, she even coordinates the inside of the card!

Ok, so here are the cheeks!  A little blotchy and lower down past the lips, but I tried!
