Steam punk Christmas

Mama Bear Gayle over at The Teddy Bo Towers asked me to try a Christmas card with Steam Punk designed graphics from her the Fairy Doodler.  I've never done any Steam Punk design but my feel for it is a Victorian aged hard core Robotic industrialized design that sings of steel, brings a old fashioned color combination and mix it up with a sexy burlesque woman feel.  Then I added a flower that was distressed to give it a Holiday feel with the metal poinsettia like corner leaf and the Holiday Sentiment.    Whew!  I think the satin sash and flourish flowers add a Spritz of New Years too!  This was fun to try, but after seeing some real experts in Steam Punk I know I have a lot to learn.  This isn't the only technique  I need practice with so "keep moving forward"  as they say.  I hope you enjoy it and at least it inspires you to try one!

INGREDIENTS:
Bazzill stock
Steam Punk Paper is Winter Wonderland by Gayle
Sentiment is Raindrop Echo

 MEDIUMS:
Copic Markers
Ranger Distress Ink

EMBELLISHMENTS:
Jolee's Boutique flower distressed and altered
Stickles
glitter
eyelets from stash

Eye Candy "Magnet" with Kenny K and Whimsy!

Good morning!  Boy!  Yesterday's sale went really well as I took a consignment order that will pay for 1/2 of next years table charge, so yeah!   It was an exhausting day though and when I got home I all of a sudden couldn't stop sniffling!  Figures right?  I spent the day in an elementary school and now I have the sniffles!

I got home and new I had the finishing touches to put on today's project so I was up until 1:30 am getting it ready to photo this morning for the post!  I hope you enjoy it as I'm sure anyone that likes "Candy" (even the eye kind) would love!  Hope you enjoy it, oh and by the way, when the bag is empty, the entire image comes off and is a refrigerator magnet!  Well gotta keep the Holidays in mind longer than it takes to eat a little sweet!  hehe

Tuesday, October 4, 2011

Hi ya! He says!

Good morning to you all!  Well today is Tuesday, well I guess you might already know that, however,  This Tuesday is the first time I get to share with all of you my debut Teddy Bo Design Team Card!  I know, I know, no way did she just fulfill 1 of her top goals she set out to create internal perpetual happiness!  Oh Yeah!

My goal was to find three stamp artists that I love to create with, some how earn or deserve to get on and stay on their design teams, learn, share and live happily ever after!  Well, Teddy Bo, from the second I saw my first, has been one of those teams and today I can announce that I have made it my third greatly desired and attained DT!  So excited! (pinch)  Yep, it's real!  There is a challenge starting today and we want you to share:

Your Favorite Color

Challenges entered:
Anything Goes ~ Die Cuts or punches
Karens Doodles ~ Favorite Animal
Papertake weekly ~ Anything Goes
Sweet Stamps ~ Anything Goes
Fab n Funky ~Die Cuts & punches
Little Darling Challenge ~ Fall colors and leaves
My Mum's Craft Shop ~ All creatures great and small

Below are 7 of the newest creations available today at the teddybo.com sight and there are loads of other images as well, like the cute little giraffe and the fabulous elephant too!

So, for the next 2 weeks, over at the Teddy Bo Challenge, grab your favorite furry little friend and do it up in your favorite color and share it with me and the rest of the DT's.  We all adore visiting your blogs and leaving a hug or two!

Now on to the details of my little lovely fur ball!  My hubby and teenage son, who's birthday is 10-8 (ooh only 4 days!)  are both in karate and love it.  So I chose to surround him with my favorite colors rich reds and oranges and because of the position he is in, it reminds me of a perfect photo op, so I added some film strip, and the karate (looking) weapon and put it all together with some terrific fall leaves and a red belt.  Actually Hubby tied the red ribbon on my project from behind the card just like he puts his karate belt on 4 nights a week!  It was kinda funny to watch, but he did a bang up job by comparison to what mine looked like.  hehe!

A Dragons' Gift

It's Friday!  Woo Hoo!  I have another class tomorrow with Angie Hunt and Sunday I hope to go to the Apple Orchard with the twins!  I hope it stops raining long enough to enjoy some cider and donuts on a horse cart ride through the orchard.  It's sort of a tradition, since both my children are October babies, we go to the orchard/petting zoo and enjoy the changing trees and family time.

I have a card to share with you today with Jiggy and some of the Dragon Designs digi paper too!  I adore him!  It doesn't seem to matter if he's on a beach, covered in fairies or camping with his pop, the color theme and design always comes together so well when it's with Jiggy from Dragon Designs!  This one is no different.  The card was made to have the appearance of a Christmas gift box just waiting for the grand opening ceremony on Christmas morning!  I paper pierced the presents, made the ornament shiny with dimensional liquid, the wings are angel like with flower soft, I used photo corners to frame the picture like a gift tab and sewed all 4 layers of DP's.  I simply adore this "Gift" card!  hehe

NEWS FLASH!

Here doggy!

I was so in the mood to make my own shaped card again!  I get these ideas in my head and don't quit until I make such a huge mess and everyone is hollering for lunch or sometimes even dinner!  lol   As a matter of fact, I think I'm going to add a spot maybe on my tutorial page with some of my templates for anyone that may be interested to give them a try!  Give me a week or two though! A hole lot of GDT work coming up! Whew!

There is a challenge that starts today at Sentimental Sundays that is calling for you to show us all of your

SHAPED CARDS + sentiment

One of the Sponsors is Meljen who made the dog image I used today offering a great prize, also, for this challenge,  is Raindrop Echo Designs w/Whimsy with some terrific sentiment images.

This is the rough draft of base

After all the bases were cut our, I ink 1/8 inch away from edge all the way around to get DP shape size
So, after I made all of the templates, I cut out the real thing, assembled it , sewed it up and punched our paws to make the border all the way around under the mat, added the Dog paw twill, clips, buttons, then off to the image.  The pup was colored then striped with 0 copic in squiggle lines to look brindle.  Cute huh?  I love this card but it may be a while before I repeat it!  Loads of time and cutting! lol

 INGREDIENTS:

Meljen image Bulldogs Bear
