Steam punk Christmas

Mama Bear Gayle over at The Teddy Bo Towers asked me to try a Christmas card with Steam Punk designed graphics from her the Fairy Doodler.  I've never done any Steam Punk design but my feel for it is a Victorian aged hard core Robotic industrialized design that sings of steel, brings a old fashioned color combination and mix it up with a sexy burlesque woman feel.  Then I added a flower that was distressed to give it a Holiday feel with the metal poinsettia like corner leaf and the Holiday Sentiment.    Whew!  I think the satin sash and flourish flowers add a Spritz of New Years too!  This was fun to try, but after seeing some real experts in Steam Punk I know I have a lot to learn.  This isn't the only technique  I need practice with so "keep moving forward"  as they say.  I hope you enjoy it and at least it inspires you to try one!

Sentiment is Raindrop Echo

 MEDIUMS:

Whew!  Now that all the business is out of the way, I want to share the ingredients of this Marie Antoinette want to be!   My reaction to the flourish stickers in the store just made me crave to color up this image with slick black hair and that Victorian Pink with rich Ivory tones.  I added a little touch with the Applique (which makes the micro beads stickier than I like) and love that the little ornament shaped sentiments weren't over powering the image or the delicate look of the over all ornament.  I simply LOVE these Sentiments!  May be using them in ALL of my projects till Christmas lol!

Dream while you Read!

Welcome to my spot this chilly blistery day in September!  My boy started High School yesterday and he survived!  The best thing is he gets 70 minutes of study hall as a class!  So, "maybe" less homework!  I can only hope!  Well enough about me, on to the real goodies.

There is a challenge starting today at the Divas by Design Challenge Blog!  We want you to create a project of your choice with the

"Back to School"  theme

We are sponsored by CraftySentiment

If you ask me, she's looking out to find her way around the world and her first prospective location is PARis!  But first, she's going to read up on it and maybe learn some French in school with the bookie mark! hehe!

So, the funnest part of this card is the stretch choker with the magnetic bottle cap!  Yep, you heard me, interchangeable bottle cap that magnetically attaches to the choker whenever you want to change it up!  It was actually a request by a craft sale patron and I couldn't wait to get them started, should be a huge success at the school cafeteria on September 17th.

This has been a great week so far, so thanks for joining me, don't forget to hop over to Divas by Design for both the new challenge and inspiration from a very talented DT! You have a whole week to enter so join us for the fun!  On to my little creation:

Playing with the Fairies!

Good day to all my friends and family. . . It has been a little warm but a lot rainy here in Michigan this week.  Just as soon as my socks dry out, that grill is getting fired up!   I've been wanting grilled chicken for weeks, and I'm not the most patient person on the planet!
On to this Brand New really mystical and dainty image.  It was so much fun and as soon as I saw it, my gears started crankin!  It reminds me of that story where the elves come in at night and get all the work done for the shoe maker.  I think it was by the Brothers Grimm?  Anyway,  I need to get a sewing fairy, or two,  of my own for all those dresses my daughter wants me to fix the zipper on!  lol
